There's a reason I have not posted in such a long time. And that reason is podcasting. Yes, I too have fallen prey to the siren song of amateur radio via my iPod. Someone once said that blogging is totally the new DJing . Well, they were almost right. With something recently dubbed Podcasting, (broadcasting mp3 audio via an RSS feed), you really can create that underground radio station of your dreams. Or in my case, you can listen to other people create the underground radio stations of their dreams and become quite addicted to it.
I haven't wanted to post about podcasting because I don't want anyone to know about it. One of the coolest things about it is its big budget sound mixed with low budget intimacy. Listening to the professionalism of my favorite podcasts, I can't help but imagine millions of listeners, but when I reach out to the performers, the speed of their responses reminds me that I'm part of a movement that is still in its infancy. And that is really the charm of it. Of course, when I say professionalism, I don't mean there are no mistakes. On the contrary, the confidence with which they make mistakes is what makes these artists pioneers of a new movement in broadcast art. If there is such a thing as the broadcast arts, which, let's face it, at this point in history there should be.
