Transit Strike '05: I was so glad my gypsy cab driver this morning wasn't a rapist, I gladly handed over the fifteen clams to go 25 blocks.

Thank sweet Jesus I had the good fortune to have a very early flight scheduled out of town this morning.  Fuck all of y'all. I'm in Austin now and will remain here, in God's country, until after the new year.

I didn't avoid the inconvenience altogether, though. I had to wake up at 5am today for an 8:50 flight because of the possibility of having to walk from my apartment in Alphabet City to Penn Station where I planned to catch the NJ Transit to Newark Airport. Fortunately for me, a very nice towncar driver who had arrived early for his legitimate client gave me a ride from Tompkins Square Park for the low, low gouge of only $15. I weighed my options: Walk 25+ blocks in the freezing cold (pulling a suitcase, no less) or risk my virtue and my life in a random towncar with a complete stranger? Of course, I did what any sensible, spoiled-ass, yuppie scumbag gentrifying the East Village would do. I got in. I was so glad he wasn't a rapist, I gladly handed over the fifteen clams to line his holiday pockets. Also, kudos to the NJ Transit who aren't pussy enough to need to retire at AGE 55???? What the fuck, TWU? Why don't you save the MTA the trouble of training you and just go on welfare after 8th grade graduation? No sense straining yourselves.

Am I the only one who thinks Robert Downey Jr. should play Halloween Rapist Peter Braunstein in the movie?

Call Timothy "Speed" Levitch

  • This used to list Speed Levitch's phone number, but it doesn't work anymore. Now all I have for you is an old quote from his answering machine, which is pure poetry.
"I am lack of coordination being utilized. I am dysfunction gazing into the eyes of function. I am quieted, odd, menaced awkwardness dying at the altar of suave. They call me Levitch. Leave me a message."
