Well, we're 8 months into 2009 and hardly anyone who was really famous when I was a kid is left standing. Let's take a look back at who we've lost so far:
"I love spaghetti. And I like to cook spaghetti. And I used to eat it every day. I weighed thirty pounds more than I do now. You can’t — you can’t do that."
"La Cumbia del Rio" is by Los Pikadientes de Caborca, (Which is a name that deserves its own blog post, I think.), who hail from the Mexican state of Sonora. Their music reflects a sense of humor that is a requirement of Mexicanos these days. (Another one of their songs, "I Love You Te Amo," contains the lyric, "I love you mucho! Un chingo!") The album this is off of, Vámonos Pa'l Rio got a Grammy nod this year. Visit them on MySpace for more good times.
This used to list Speed Levitch's phone number, but it doesn't work anymore. Now all I have for you is an old quote from his answering machine, which is pure poetry. "I am lack of coordination being utilized. I am dysfunction gazing into the eyes of function. I am quieted, odd, menaced awkwardness dying at the altar of suave. They call me Levitch. Leave me a message."
