Madison Square Garden. Last Night. Me. And John. And Simon. And Nick. And Roger. And Andy. 21 years later. Together at last.
From the opening number (Reach Up for) The Sunrise to Simon's howling question, "New York Citeeeeeee!!!!! Is anybody hungreeeeeeee?????!!!!" that launched Hungry Like the Wolf and 10,000 simultaneous orgasms, Duran Duran delivered a 2 hour and five minute powerhouse of a show that fulfilled a 21 year-old dream of mine, put into place when I was only 12 years old, to see the Fab Five live on stage and all that that implies. And what a stage it was.
I found myself simultaneously dancing and saying prayers of thanks. For the good friend who gave me a free ticket and for the five Duranees who knew how to stage a comeback without any of the schlock that usually accompanies one.
And to the good Lord who saw fit to help me realize a dream. And when Simon said it had also been 21 years since the five of them stood on the most famous stage in the world. I knew, it was meant to be.
